To enhance access to information technology for the under-served sectors of society, TESDA recently identified the National Federation of Sugarcane Planters (NFSP), Inc. Sugar Workers Foundation as its partner non-governmental organization in the implementation of the Microsoft Unlimited Potential Project.
TESDA Regional Director Buen S. Mondejar and NFSP Foundation President Enrique D. Rojas signed the Memorandum of Agreement for the undertaking last October 28, 2005 at the NFSP Main Office, Bacolod City.
The program aims to bring information technology to the grassroots level, thru the Microsoft-designed Self-Pacing Unlimited Potential teaching method. It calls for the installation of licensed Microsoft software on all computer units of the NFSP Foundation Skills Training Center and the training of at least twenty trainers who will, in turn, teach the direct beneficiaries at their respective localities. All training materials are provided for free by Microsoft.
Licensed Microsoft software has already been installed in the computers of the NFSP Foundation Computer Center, making it one of the very few technical-vocational schools with licensed software not only in Negros but in the entire region. The first phase of trainer’s training has already been conducted last Nov. 5 & 6, 2005.
Among the courses which the beneficiaries can study at their own pace are Computer Fundamentals, Digital Media, Internet and World Wide Web, Word Processing, Presentation, Database, and Spreadsheet Fundamentals.
